On invitation of Oladiecoba we developed 3 masterclasses for a group of 8 enthusiastic teenagers from Franeker (a Dutch town in the region of Fryslan). The masterclasses took 3 hours each and within 3 weeks there was one every week. The main theme was time and within this theme we developed 3 different concepts. The Matrix vs Kubism, Slow-motion Action, and Pointcloud. The results where presented in the form of an official exhibition in Museum Martena in Franeker.
The Matrix versus Kubism Using eight cameras that are arranged around you, we’re going to shoot portraits. By simultaneously taking a picture, one moment of you is photographed in 360 degrees. 8 photos all show a different side of you. The 8 different pictures are printed out a number of times. This forms the basic material for making a self-portrait, a cubist collage. Inspiration: The Matrix Trinity Jump, Kubists, Collage Art
Delayed Action. We will record an action created by you with a 250 (possibly 1000) frames per second camera. This makes it possible to playback the action very slow. Time no longer exists, the time seems to freeze. The created action is the basis for a video portrait of yours. For example, you can throw around a bucket of water over your head or make a quantum leap. When you delay these actions, you discover what is actually happening all within such a short time.

Pointcloud. With the XBox Kinect, we take spatial photos of all the participants of this masterclass. We can use this technique to make 3D scans and build 3D forms in the computer. As modern sculptors we will experiment with making the most beautiful forms. Your bodies will function as building stones to create a 3D virtual sculpture.

Exhibition. After three masterclasses the results were presented at an exhibition at the Museum Martena Franeker. The participants were all among the winners with their work and after the award show the exhibition was officially opened.
