Terra Nova is the latest crafts workshop and building from Nou&Herkauw! A workshop that can be carried out simultaneously on three different physical locations. Where the participants can encounter each other virtually in the colourful fantasy world universe of Terra Nova.
TerraNova is about space travel, explorations and building futuristic worlds. With thinking of new solutions for current and future problems on earth. What does your future planet look like and what nature and animal kingdom evolves? Do we still drive in cars or only use teleports, is there art and are we all living in floating houses? In the craft workshop and building game Terra Nova you can come up with all this and make it. With your hands, with new technologies, but especially with your imagination.
What makes Terra Nova special is that the three physical locations are connected in the digital universe of Terra Nova. Each location has its own virtual planet, Monti, Merus and Radia. Invisible creatures live on each of the three planets that occasionally formulate a “challenge” you can work on. Only you don’t do this digitally but with your hands. With clay, wood, cardboard and many other materials. Once finished with crafting, a 3D scanner ensures that the construction work is converted to a digital model. The next station is the 3D painting tool where you can paint your model with a wide range of colours. And the last stop is adding the model to one of the planets of the Terra Nova universe. Now you can complete one of the challenges together with others and work on the next one. With a little but of creativity and persistence you can build bridges to finally connect with the other planets.
Terra Nova can be used in a festival setting connecting different locations, but ideally in a masterclass of at least two hours with a focused group of about 15 participants per location. The challenges can be adapted and reformulated based the needs of the organisation or relevant and local themes.
